Accessory labels and care: identify the claim before acting on it
Read accessory fibre labels, care symbols, certifications and specification numbers. Find the guide for the claim or instruction you need to check.
A material name, care symbol, certification mark and specification number answer different questions. Use this section to identify which kind of information you have and what you still need before buying, washing or storing a face-contact accessory.
Start with the question on the label
| Your question | Read next |
|---|---|
| What do the wash and drying instructions permit? | Care labels for face accessories |
| Will a mesh bag make the planned wash appropriate? | Mesh laundry bags |
| What do two certification names cover? | OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 vs GOTS |
| What does a woven pillowcase's count describe? | Pillowcase thread count |
| Is a silk fabric weight a complete quality score? | Silk pillowcase momme |
| Which layer does a mask's fibre headline describe? | Cotton vs silk sleep masks |
Read the whole item, not only the headline
An accessory may combine an outer textile, lining, fill, elastic, coating and hardware. A percentage for one panel does not describe every part. Likewise, a removable washable part does not establish permission to wash the assembled item in the same way.
Keep the model, component and source attached to the instruction. If a product page and the received label differ, clarify the version rather than combining whichever directions seem easiest. The category guides explain the relevant parts for pillowcases, sleep masks, makeup bags and the other accessories in the guide directory.
Separate permission, verification and preference
Care instructions describe a permitted process for a product. A certification has its own defined scope and verification method. A specification number measures a particular attribute. None automatically selects the item you will prefer or confirms a skin, sleep or hygiene outcome.
The linked guides explain these boundaries with documented sources and original editorial records. They are not hands-on tests. A blank field or an unresolved claim remains a reason to seek information, not a reason for a tool to generate a reassuring score.
Add an accessory only for a useful job
A wash bag can be useful when both it and the item permit the planned process. A separate storage case can be useful when its loaded fit and maintenance suit the kit. Neither purchase replaces the instructions for the item inside.
Start with the relevant guide, record what is confirmed and keep the missing detail visible. If your existing care and storage arrangement already works, this section does not prescribe another purchase.
Evidence and source notes
This hub organises research-based guides by the type of claim or instruction. It does not certify labels, test products or supply missing care directions.
